Box Score The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team opened its 2019 season on Saturday with a 9-0 loss to Stevenson. The Chargers are now 0-1, while the Mustangs improved to 2-1.

Despite the loss, the Chargers played well in many of the matches, and kept many of the points competitive. In doubles action, Lancaster Bible's top team of
Greta Strunk and
Michaela Dearborn dropped a 8-1 decision, while the number two team of
Haylee Fishel and
Kayla Hubbard lost, 8-2. The number three doubles team of
Sarah Wetzel and
Kenedi Berkhimer lost, 8-5 in their match.

Strunk, the two-time reigning North Eastern Athletic Conference Champion, won the opening set of her match at number one singles, but dropped the second and the 10-point super tie-breaker, and lost, 4-6, 7-6, 10-6. Dearborn lost, 6-1, 6-1 at number two singles for the Chargers, and Fishel dropped a 6-0, 6-4 decision at number three singles.

Hubbard lost her match at number four singles, 6-0, 6-2, while Wetzel dropped her number five singles match, 6-0, 6-3 to Nina Bretz. Berkhimer suffered a 6-1, 6-3 loss to Esha Kashmiri at number six singles.

Lancaster Bible is back in action on Saturday, March 16, as the Chargers host Delaware Valley at 11 a.m. at the Hempfield Rec Center.
