Shoremen Cruise Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College baseball team played its final home non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, and lost to Washington (Md.), 20-3 at Charger Field. Lancaster Bible is now 8-17 overall this season, while the Shoremen improved to 25-12. Wednesday marked the second time this season the Chargers have lost to Washington (Md.), as the Shoremen won, 6-2 in Chestertown, Md. on March 19.
 
How it Happened: Washington (Md.) scored twice in the first inning, and tacked on four more runs in the second inning, as both Dylan Nepert and Aaron Barclay homered in the inning.
 
The floodgates opened in the third inning, as the Shoremen scored five more times, as CJ Gillmer and Aaron Barclay each had two-run hits. After the Shoremen scored three more times in the fourth inning, Lancaster Bible finally got on the scoreboard, as freshman Jaden Pinkney hit a two-run home run that scored Jacob Alvarez.
 
Joe Curtin hit a grand slam in the sixth for Washington (Md.), and Jacob Schenck singled to center in the seventh inning to score Josh Saufley and cap the scoring for the Chargers.
 
Inside the Box Score: Six different players had a hit for the Chargers, while the Shoremen pounded out 17 hits…Pinkney finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run…Five different pitchers threw for Lancaster Bible, as Trevor High fell to 2-4 this season.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 0-4 all-time against the Shoremen…The Chargers are now 3-4 at home this season…Schenck has hits in 13 of his past 14 games…Wednesday marked the 10th time this season the Chargers have been held to single-digit hits.
 
Up Next: Lancaster Bible hosts Cazenovia this weekend for its final home games of the season…The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a single nine-inning game on Sunday at 12 p.m…Sunday will also be Senior Day, as the Chargers will honor their six seniors prior to the game.
