The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team opened its 2019 campaign with two losses at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic, as the Chargers lost to the host Bullets, 3-0, before falling to Elizabethtown, 3-1.

Statistically Speaking: Gettysburg only had one more kill than Lancaster Bible over the three sets at 29-28, but the Chargers committed 26 errors, while the Bullets had just nine…Gettysburg also posted eight aces, and the Chargers had two…Gettysburg held a slight edge in digs at 38-36…Ashtyn Bouslog led the Chargers with eight kills and seven digs, while Aleah Heyworth had seven kills and four digs…Courtney Goyak and Emma Thomann also had four kills each…Francesca Garison led the Bullets with seven kills.
 
News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 0-4 all-time against Gettysburg…This was the first matchup between the two schools since Oct. 15, 2013…The Bullets won that match, 3-0 as well.

Statistically Speaking: Lancaster Bible dropped the first two sets, before taking a big lead and then holding on in the third set, but couldn't complete the comeback and lost in four sets to Elizabethtown…Elizabethtown led in kills 45-40, while the Chargers held a 9-7 advantage in aces…Lancaster Bible also led 82-79 in digs, while the Blue Jays had a 10-7 advantage in blocks…Cassidy King led the Chargers with 10 kills, while Bouslog had seven kills and a team-best 20 digs…Suzanna Whiting added 14 digs, while Heyworth had eight kills and 12 digs…Goyak had seven kills and four blocks…Allison Shuey posted four kills, 33 assists, four blocks and 12 digs…Bryanna Miller had a match-high 18 kills.
 
News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 0-10 all-time against Elizabethtown…The Chargers lost to the Blue Jays, 3-0 last season in Elizabethtown…The same two teams will meet at Horst Athletic Center on Wed., Sept. 11
 
The Coach Says: "I thought we had some nerves in the first match against Gettysburg, and they put us into some uncomfortable spots," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Micah Herron said. "Against Elizabethtown, I thought we tightened up in a few spots, but played pretty well most of the match. We got caught in some bad rotations in the fourth set, and couldn't overcome it, but I was proud of the way the ladies battled, and look forward to more of the same on Saturday."
