Lancaster Bible Wins Lone Fall Match

The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team got off to a great start this fall, as the Chargers downed Albright, 5-2 at the Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa. Lancaster Bible is now 1-0 this season, while the Lions dropped to 0-1. The Chargers will not play again until the spring, but will now practice and train for the spring season.

On Saturday, the Chargers and Lions split doubles play, as the top team of Tyler Norris and Devon Clemmer won, 8-4, and Malachi Bumgardner and Will Hilliard dropped an 8-0 decision.

In singles play, Norris overcame a first set defeat to win his match in a super tie-breaker, as he was victorious, 5-7, 7-5, 10-3. Clemmer picked up his first-ever collegiate singles win with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles, while Bumgardner fell, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Connor Doyle earned his first collegiate victory at No. 4 singles with a 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory, while Hilliard picked up with the win at No. 5 singles in a forfeit.

"It was great to see several of our players have to battle through early deficit and first-set losses, and then be able to come back and earn the victory," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Rod Baughman said. "I'm proud of their fight, and great strides were made today."

News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 3-2 all-time against Albright.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible is done with match play in the fall, but returns to the court on March 6, 2020 at Mount Aloysius.
