Chargers Open Spring with Victory

The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its season with a 7-2 victory over Penn St. Brandywine on Wednesday in Media, Pa. The Chargers are now 2-0 overall for their 2019-20 season, while the Nittany Lions dropped to 0-1.
 
Notes from the Match
-The No. 1 doubles team of Devon Clemmer and Tyler Norris lost, 8-3, but the No. 2 doubles team of Malachi Bomgardner and AJ Kwiatkowski picked them up with an 8-0 victory
-Penn St. Brandywine only had five players on Wednesday, thus the Chargers took No. 3 doubles by forfeit for a 2-1 lead
-Clemmer lost to Penn St. Brandywine's Stephen Le at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, but Norris earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles
-Yancy Butler earned the Chargers a point with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, while Bomgardner won , 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles
-Kwiatkowski earned his second point of the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles
 
The Coach Says: "Preseason is long for players," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Rod Baughman said. "So it was great to get out and hit against another team. I thought our young guys did really well in their first collegiate match, and we learned some things about ourselves tonight."
 
News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 2-1 all-time against Penn St. Brandywine…Dating back to last season, Lancaster Bible is 11-3 in its past 14 matches…Butler was part of the No. 3 doubles team that won by forfeit on Wednesday, so he is now 13-0 all-time at No. 3 doubles.
