Greyhounds Run Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College field hockey team lost its fourth straight game on Tuesday evening, as the Chargers lost to Moravian, 7-1 in Bethlehem, Pa. The Chargers are now 1-6 overall this season, while the Greyhounds improved to 3-5.

How it Happened: Moravian jumped out to an early lead, scoring three times in the first quarter. Emily Wells netted her third goal of the season at the 3:01 mark, and scored again 1:07 later off a feed from Nicole Grayuski. Kylie Mastricola's goal with 1:04 left in the opening quarter gave Moravian a 3-0 lead.

Like they did in the first quarter, Moravian scored early in the second, as Olivia Emrick scored her first goal of the season to make it 4-0. Wells completed the hat trick with 4:51 remaining in the half, as Grayuski added another assist.

The score remained 5-0 through halftime, but Ava Edwards scored 5:14 into the third quarter to increase the Moravian lead to 6-0. Sara Cruz made it 7-0 just under five minutes into the final quarter, but Lancaster Bible got on the board less than two minutes later on Brooke Sareyka's second goal of the year. Freshman Macy Balmer assisted on the goal, as she crossed the ball across the circle to Sareyka.

Statistically Speaking: Moravian outshot the Chargers, 35-3, including 24-3 in shots on goal…The Greyhounds also led in penalty corners, 13-3…Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Chloe Campbell made a career-high 17 saves in the loss…Balmer's assist was her second of the season, which leads the Chargers, while Sareyka now has the team-lead with Nina Statuti with two goals.

The Coach Says: "I thought we communicated better and our passing was better which helped us create offensive opportunities," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Becky Elliott said. "We need to have a better start to games, and we are looking forward to opening up conference play on Friday."

News & Notes: This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams…Campbell posted double-digit saves in a game for the third time this season…The Chargers have scored in every quarter of a game except for the first quarter this season…Lancaster Bible is now 0-5 on the road this season.
