Game Recap: Field Hockey | | Hunter Gerber

Immaculata Downs Lancaster Bible

The Lancaster Bible College field hockey team lost 7-0 to Immaculata on Saturday at the Donald H. Funk Field, a day after earning the program's first victory since returning to varsity status a year ago. The Chargers are now 1-3 overall, while the Mighty Macs improved to 1-3 overall.

How it Happened: The Mighty Macs came out firing in the first half sending 10 shots towards the goal, five of which found the back of the cage. The Chargers defense stepped up in the second quarter, but the Mighty Macs controlled most of the possession in the first half. While the action was mostly found on the offensive side for the Mighty Macs, the Chargers did manage to secure three corners to end the first half, but each attempt failed to lead into a goal.

Although the Chargers did come out to start the second half with more defensive intensity than they started the game with, the Chargers were unable to transition anything into offense as the Mighty Macs continued to control possession for the rest of the game. While the Chargers defense limited the Mighty Macs to only five shots, two of the shots were able to find the back of the cage leading to a final score of 7-0.

Statistically Speaking: Shots were the key for the Mighty Macs as they totaled 15 for the game and managed to share the ball as they saw four players score including Colleen Bradley and Layne Kennedy with two goals each…Chargers goalkeeper Chloe Campbell led the game with three saves and Mighty Macs goalkeeper, Kuhar, had one on the day…The Mighty Macs were able to send off 10 corner kicks and the Chargers finished with four.
