The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Friday night, as the Chargers fell to Penn St. Harrisburg, 82-56 in Middletown, Pa. The loss drops the Chargers to 5-9 overall this season and 3-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Nittany Lions improved to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in NEAC action.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible took an early 4-1 lead on a jumper from
Britton Beachy 2:07 into the contest, and the Chargers led, 7-3 less than a minute later after a 3-pointer from
Jordan Shewbridge. Penn St. Harrisburg answered with a 9-2 run over the next four minutes, and the Nittany Lions kept scoring from there, as they led 26-18 with 8:56 remaining in the first half after a 3-pointer from Pedro Rodriguez.

A layup from Shewbridge with just over seven minutes remaining cut the Chargers' deficit to five, 28-23, but the Nittany Lions ended the half on a 19-6 run from that point, and led, 47-29 at the break.

Penn St. Harrisburg maintained its lead in the upper teens for the beginning minutes of the second half, but began to extend it midway through the half. The Nittany Lions took their biggest lead with 3:50 remaining at 78-47, but the Chargers got late buckets from
Caleb Carpenter,
Kobe Devine, and
Jackson Whitt to shrink it back to 24, before the Nittany Lions eventually won by 26.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible shot 33.9 percent (21-of-62) from the field, but just 2-of-13 from 3-point range, and 12-of-22 from the free throw line…Penn St. Harrisburg shot 51.8 percent (29-of-56), including 7-of-22 from beyond the arc…Shewbridge led three players in double figures with 14 points, while
William Afoakwah had 11 points and six rebounds…Beachy chipped in with 10 points and three assists, while Devine had seven points…Dylan Daniels led four Penn St. Harrisburg players in double figures with 17 points.

News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 1-28 all-time against Penn St. Harrisburg…Friday's game was the first matchup between the teams since the Nittany Lions left the NEAC after the 2012-13 season…Penn St. Harrisburg defeated the Chargers, 75-63 on Jan. 30, 2013 in the teams' last matchup…The only time the Chargers have beaten the Nittany Lions came during the 2006-07 season…Friday marked the third time this season the Chargers have been held under 60 points, and Lancaster Bible is now 0-3 in those contests.
