Chargers Cap Spring Break and Season

The Lancaster Bible College softball team capped its 2020 season on Friday in Myrtle Beach, S.C., as the Chargers lost to Medaille and Norwich. Lancaster Bible lost twice on Thursday as well to Lycoming and Cazenovia, and ends its season with an 0-8 record. Lancaster Bible season ends due to the Chargers cancelling all sports for the rest of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Lycoming 9, Lancaster Bible 1 (5 innings)
Game Notes
-The Warriors scored twice in the first inning, and then tacked on two more runs in the third on a two-run home run
-Lycoming scored three more runs in the fourth inning for a 7-0 lead, but the Chargers got a run back in the fifth on an RBI single from Martina McCauley that scored Adalyn Steiner
-The Warriors ended the game in the bottom half of the inning with two runs
 
By the Numbers: McCauley finished 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI…Nicole DeKok, Kendra Brown and Steiner also had hits for the Chargers…McCauley threw 4 2/3 innings
 
News & Notes: The Chargers are now 0-2 all-time against Lycoming…The Warriors defeated Lancaster Bible, 7-1 last season in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
 
 
Cazenovia 8, Lancaster Bible 0 (5 innings)
Game Notes
-After the first two innings were scoreless, Cazenovia erupted for seven runs in the bottom half of the third inning…The Wildcats sent 11 batters to the plate in the third inning, and recorded seven hits
-The fourth inning was scoreless as well, and Cazenovia ended the game in the fifth with a sacrifice fly
 
By the Numbers: Five different players had a hit for the Chargers, including McCauley, DeKok, Kendra Brown, Mekenzie Smith, and Steiner…DeKok pitched and allowed nine hits for the Chargers.
 
News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 1-4 all-time against Cazenovia…The teams split a doubleheader last season in Cazenovia, N.Y., as the Chargers dropped game one, and then won game two, 10-2.
 
 
Medaille 9, Lancaster Bible 0 (6 innings)
Game Notes
-The Mavericks scored five times in the first inning, four of them came on a single, followed by an error from the Chargers
-Medaille scored again in the second inning, but the third, fourth, and fifth innings were scoreless
-Lancaster Bible earned a walk and single in the sixth inning, but couldn't bring any runners around, and Medaille ended the game with three runs on two hits and an error in the bottom half of the inning
 
By the Numbers: Sonja Nelson and DeKok each went 1-for-3 in the game…Rheeana Miles went 1-for-1 with a walk…McCauley, Hoover, and Brown also drew walks for Lancaster Bible…Tracy Hatton pitched 5 1/3 innings, and scattered 10 hits, while allowing just three earned runs.
 
News & Notes: This was the first-ever game between the Mavericks and Chargers.
 
 
Norwich 7, Lancaster Bible 2
Game Notes
-Norwich scored twice in the top of the second inning, but the Chargers responded with a run in their half of the second.
-Norwich scored twice more in the fifth, and then added a run in the sixth, and two more in the seventh to make it 7-1
-The Chargers scored once in the seventh, as Marissa Senn drew a walk to start the inning, and DeKok drove her home two batters later
 
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had six hits in the game, led by Hoover who was 2-for-4…Marissa Senn was 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI…DeKok was 1-for-4 with an RBI as well…McCauley pitched and scattered 12 hits over seven innings.
 
News & Notes: This was the first-ever contest between the two schools.
