How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey Team fell in a nonconference matchup against Houghton College by a score of 6-1 on Saturday, October 9.

Houghton (4-7 Overall, 2-2 Empire 8) would grab the early advantage scoring twice in the first quarter. The Chargers' (1-10 Overall, 0-3 CSAC) lone scoring opportunity of the quarter came on a corner a minute into the game. After falling behind 3-0, the Chargers' offense started to find their footing. Molly Gray would fire a shot on goal in the 23rd minute and after the goalie deflected the ball LBC would earn a penalty corner. Kayla Willing would take advantage of the opportunity, scoring her first career goal and cutting the deficit down to two. The Highlanders would strike just before half taking a 4-1 lead into the break.

Both teams struggled to create scoring chances in the third quarter with Houghton firing the lone shot of the quarter. The Chargers' offense would have more success in the fourth quarter. Amanda Wise beat the goalkeeper on a shot, but her attempt was saved by a Highlander defender at the last second. Hannah Hoffman and Gray would each fire shots but would not produce a goal. The Highlanders would tack on two more goals cruising to the 6-1 victory.
