How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team celebrated senior day by clinching a playoff berth, defeating SUNY Morrisville by a score of 4-0 on Saturday, October 23.
Â
Before the game, Lancaster Bible took a few minutes to recognize the seven senior members of the men's soccer team: Jake Deterline, Michael Eufemia, Chad Tolson, Ross Venman, Michael Cheezum, Kedric Yoder & Shea Richardson.
Â
Once the game began, the Chargers' offense immediately went to work, creating several early scoring chances. In the 18th minute, Michael Eufemia drove to the end line and sent a beautiful cross in front of the face of the goal to the feet of Ross Venman. Venman would rocket the shot into the back of the net, giving the Chargers a 1-0 lead and scoring his first career goal in the process. Later in the half, Eufemia would again send a high-quality cross into the box and this time, Cameron Smith would finish the scoring chance, extending the leading 2-0. The Chargers'Â defense, lead by senior goalkeeper Jake Deterline, would stifle SUNY Morrisville's attack, holding a 2-0 advantage heading into the half.
Â
The Chargers would extend their lead in the second half when Cameron Smith found an open Jackson Shreiner for a goal. This was Shreiner's fourth goal of the season. Six minute later, Kedric Yoder sent a beautiful ball across the box on a counterattack finding Owen Yoder, and Yoder blasted a shot into the back of the net, giving LBC a 4-0 lead. The Chargers' defense continued to dominate the Mustang's offensive attack, helping the team cruise to a 4-0 victory.
