How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College field hockey team dropped their final nonconference game to Drew University on Wednesday, October 27 by a score of 4-1.

Drew University (6-11 Overall, 1-5 Landmark) jumped out to an early lead when Janelle Arch scored in the 8th minute. The Chargers offense looked to respond, immediately earning a penalty corner. Off the corner, Kayla Willing fired a shot on goal that was deflected away at the last moment. A minute later, Molly Gray drove toward the goal, drawing a foul and earning a penalty shot. LBC could not convert the opportunity and trailed 1-0 entering the second quarter. The Chargers would again earn a penalty corner in the second quarter, but the team could not create a quality scoring opportunity. The Rangers would score again before halftime, holding a 2-0 lead at the break.

After some halftime adjustments, the Chargers started the third quarter by controlling more of the possession. In the 37th minute, LBC earned a penalty corner and Amanda Wise took the corner, firing a pass over to Gray. Gray would then beat a defender and fire an off-balance shot that rocketed past the Rangers goalie for a goal. Gray has now scored eight goals this season, the most by any player in a single season in school history. Having captured the momentum, the Chargers looked to tie the game. Off another penalty corner, Alexis Gilbert crushed a shot that deflected off the Rangers goalkeeper. Drew would score just before the end of the quarter to take a 3-1 lead and swing momentum back in their favor. The Chargers would fire three more shots in the fourth quarter but could not close the gap. The Rangers added one more goal with just over two minutes remaining, securing the 4-1 victory.
