How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to CSAC opponent Sweet Briar College by a score of 2-1 on Sunday, October 3.

The Chargers (1-9 Overall, 0-3 CSAC) got off to a slow start, battling the heat and playing on short rest. LBC struggled to generate offense in the first half and were held without a shot. The Chargers' defense would pick up the slack, stifling the Vixens (7-2 Overall, 3-1 CSAC) and holding them to nine first half shots. The game was scoreless at the half.

In the second half, LBC's offense started to create some scoring chances. After a yellow card on Sweet Briar gave the Chargers a player advantage, LBC would earn a penalty corner. Off the corner, Molly Gray would fire the Chargers' first shot but was unable to score. Later in the quarter, Sweet Briar would score to take a 1-0 lead. The Chargers fought back, creating two penalty corners in the final two minutes of the quarter but could not level the game. LBC continued to get closer and closer to tying the game. In the 53rd minute, Hannah Hoffman intercepted a pass near midfield and dribbled toward the goal. Hoffman kicked the ball across to Ashlynn Tober who had her shot blocked at the last second. Finally, the Chargers broke through when in the 57th minute, Kayla Willing passed the ball across the goal to Molly Gray who finished the scoring chance. The game remained tied at the end of regulation, sending it to overtime. This was the first ever overtime game in Lancaster Bible Field Hockey history. Playing 7-on-7, both teams had possession, but the Vixens drew a penalty stroke and capitalized to score a walk-off goal.
