How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible Women's Volleyball team dropped a five-set thriller to Alvernia on Tuesday, October 5.

The Chargers would get out to a fast start, as Cassidy King and Chloe King picked up earlier kills helping LBC take an early 4-2 lead. Later in the set, back-to-back kills by Kate Stoltzfus to help the Chargers extend the lead. Alvernia would battle back, scoring five straight points to retake the lead. The Chargers responded behind a service ace from Faith Helman and a kill from Cassidy King to sparking a 5-1 run to retake the lead. After Alvernia tied the game at 21, LBC would win four of the last five points with Morgan Fenstermacher slamming down the final kill.

LBC would once again start fast, jumping out to a 5-1 lead in the second set. Cassidy King would extend the lead to five by smashing back-to-back kills. King recorded 22 kills in the match which is a career high and the fifth most in a single game in program history. Alvernia chipped away at the deficit, pulling back within two points late in the set. Cassidy King would once again slam down two kills to spark a 5-1 run, helping the Chargers extend the lead. LBC would hold the lead and Cassidy King finished the set by crushing two kills, giving the Chargers a 25-20 set victory.

Alvernia would battle back, winning the next two sets to tie the match at two sets a piece. In the fifth and final set, Alvernia would jump out to the fast start, taking a 5-1 lead. Two kills by Cassidy King and a kill by Leah Helman helped the Chargers close back within two points. Alvernia would keep rolling building a 12-5 lead in the final set. LBC made one final push, with Fenstermacher throwing down a pair kills sparking a 5-1 run. The Chargers could not make it all the way back, falling in the final set, 15-11.

Inside The Numbers
- Cassidy King recorded 22 kills, a career high and fifth most in a single game in program history
- Kate Stoltzfus posted a double-double with 15 kills and 24 digs
- Morgan Fenstermacher added nine kills and five blocks solo
- Faith Helman dished 46 assists
- Leah Helman had a career high 19 digs
- Suzanna Rouse recorded 16 digs
- Alvernia was led by Rachel Sipling who had 14 kills
- The Chargers won the kill battle, holding a 56-53 edge

Who's Next
The Women's Volleyball team will open United East play when they travel to Penn State Abington to take on the hosts and Morrisville St. on Saturday, October 9.
