How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team fell in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament to Geneva College by a score of 86-73 on Friday, November 19.

The Chargers got off to a strong start, taking an early four-point lead off a steal and score from
Grant Sareyka. Two possessions later,
Jordan Shewbridge score a layup in transition to put LBC ahead 8-4. After
Caleb Carpenter hit a layup,
Jakari Wilkins swished a 3-pointer to put the Chargers ahead by seven-points. After the Golden Tornadoes, cut LBC's advantage down to four points,
Ty Erisman connected from beyond the arc to give the Chargers a 16-10 lead. Geneva continued to fight back, slashing the deficit down to one point before Sareyka scored a lay up in transition to put the Chargers ahead 22-19. After the Golden Tornadoes tied the game at 24, Geneva went on a 10-2 run to take an eight-point lead with just under five minutes remaining in the half. LBC tried to battle back with
Tyshaun Pulley connecting on a jump shot with over a minute remaining in the first half, but the team trailed 44-31 at the break.

Geneva stretched their advantage to as many as 18-points in the three minutes of the second half. Shewbridge began to swing momentum back toward LBC, scoring five straight points to pull the team back within 13-points. Shewbridge led the Chargers in scoring with 23 points. Geneva answered back, racing out to a 21-point lead with 10:46 remaining in the second half. Geneva's Lyle Tipton scored 25 points to lead the Golden Tornadoes attack. LBC pulled back within 13-points late in the half, but could not close within single digits, eventually falling 86-73.

Coaching Points
"We played soft, young and uninspired basketball," said head coach
Jon Mack. "Our inability to defend and rebound revealed our lack of toughness. I thought Geneva played well and contributed to our struggles on both ends. We will regroup and be ready for another tough test tomorrow."

The men's basketball team will continue in the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament taking on Grove City College on Saturday, November 20 at 1:00 p.m.
