How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team used an overtime goal from Chad Tolson to upset #2 seed St. Mary's College of Maryland in the United East Semifinals on Friday, November 5. The Chargers will now face top-seeded Penn St. Harrisburg at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.

The Chargers started fast, putting pressure on the Seahawks' defense. Chad Tolson would head a ball at the goal from point blank range, but St. Mary's goalkeeper Liam deLone-Bellsey made the save. A few minutes later, Josh Jarvis rocketed a shot from just outside the box, but once again it was saved. On the other end of the field, Isaac Barrow made a diving save in the 19th minute, ending a Seahawks scoring threat. Barrow would go on to make seven saves in the game. After the early flurry of shots, both defenses would step up, keeping the ball in the midfield. The game would remain scoreless heading into the half.

LBC would once again start fast in the second half with Tommy Elder firing a shot on goal in the 46th minute. St. Mary's would then counter, taking a pair of shots in the 51st minute with Barrow making a key save to keep the game scoreless. The Seahawks had another quality scoring chance in the 63rd minute when Luke Duswalt rocketed a shot from the edge of the box, but Barrow reacted perfectly to make the save. The Chargers would battle back with Kedric Yoder and Tolson each firing shots that missed just wide of the net. In the 81st minute, Michael Eufemia would gather a loose ball in the box, but could not get a clean shot off. The game would remain scoreless at the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime.

The Chargers are no strangers to overtime games, playing six this season. In the closing minutes of the first overtime, Ross Venman fired a shot across the face of the goal that was deflected out for a corner kick. As he has all season, Yoder crossed a beautiful ball into the box. Tolson headed the cross into the lower left-hand corner of the net, securing the 1-0 victory.
