The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team dropped its first match of the 2021 spring season, as the Chargers lost to Mount Aloysius, 5-4 at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa. The Chargers now 2-1 this season, while the Mounties improved to 3-0.

Doubles: The No. 1 doubles team of
Devon Clemmer and
Micah Weaver ran into a buzzsaw of Caleb Beidle and Bruce Perow, as the top pair for the Mounties won, 8-2. The No. 2 match went into a tie-break, and Lancaster Bible's
Malachi Bomgardner and
AJ Kwiatkowski came up on the wrong end of an 8-7 (11-9) decision. Lancaster Bible's No. 3 team of
Keven Vallette and
Spencer Grogan picked up the Chargers first point of the day with an 8-3 victory.

Singles: Clemmer dropped his match at No. 1 singles to Beidle, 6-3, 6-1, and Cole Kazmierczyk defeated Weaver at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-0. Bomgardner dropped a close first set to Perow at No. 3 singles, 6-4, and then lost the second set, 6-1. Vallette earned his second win of the day at No. 4 singles, as he defeated Adam Snyder, 6-3, 6-4. Kwiatkowski won at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3, and Grogan earned a fantastic win at No. 6 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 13-11.

Spencer Grogan's comeback win in the super tie-break was gutsy and I was pleased with the toughness of AJ and Mal in the middles doubles match that could have gone either way. This match was definitely a building block as we strive to get better each day."
