Chargers Crush Mighty Macs, 8-1

The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team got back into the win column on Saturday with an 8-1 victory over Immaculata at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa. The Chargers are now 3-1 overall this season, while the Mighty Macs dropped to 0-2.
 
Doubles: Lancaster Bible dominated doubles play, winning 24 of the 25 games…The No. 1 team of Devon Clemmer and Tyler Norris earned an 8-0 win, while Malachi Bomgardner and AJ Kwiatkowski won, 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Micah Weaver and Keven Vallette earned an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.
 
Singles: Norris, playing in his first match of the year due to being a member of the Lancaster Bible men's basketball team, picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles, while Clemmer dropped a 6-4, 6-0 decision at No. 1 singles. Weaver was dominant at No. 3 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0, while Bomgardner won at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Vallette earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, while Kwiatkowski picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles.
 
The Coach Says: "We jumped out of the gate strong and played consistently throughout the entire match," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Rod Baughman said. "It was great having senior Tyler Norris back for the first time since basketball ended. He adds quality play in the top part of our lineup and is a great teammate. We are looking forward to beginning North Eastern Athletic Conference play after Easter."
 
News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 2-3 all-time against Immaculata…This was the first matchup between the two teams since March 19, 2016 when the Chargers lost to the Mighty Macs, 5-4…Kwiatkowski is now 4-0 in singles play this season with wins at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles…Vallette is also 4-0 this season, and he has victories at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5.
 
Up Next: Lancaster Bible opens NEAC play on Tuesday, April 6 at Penn St. Berks…The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
