The Lancaster Bible College softball team lost two more games to one of the top teams in the North Eastern Athletic Conference on Saturday, as Penn St. Berks swept a doubleheader from the Chargers for the second time this week. Lancaster Bible lost the first game, 11-3 in five innings, and then dropped a closer game two, 6-4.

The Chargers are now 2-10 overall and 2-10 in NEAC play this season, while the Nittany Lions improved to 13-1 overall and 13-1 in NEAC action.

Game 1
Penn St. Berks 11, Lancaster Bible 3 (5 innings)
How it Happened: Lancaster Bible took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, as
Nicole DeKok singled home
Phoebe Clemens who had singled and stolen second base earlier in the inning. The lead was short-lived however, as Penn St. Berks scored twice in the bottom half of the inning, and then added five more runs in the bottom of the second. Penn St. Berks had four hits in the second inning, and stole two bases to extend its lead.

Penn St. Berks scored one run in the third, and then tacked on three more in the fourth to take an 11-1 lead. Lancaster Bible tried to get back into the game in the fifth, as
Hannah Lieb and
Sydney Wooden singled to lead off the inning, and after advancing to second and third by a
Hope Hodges sacrifice bunt,
Adalyn Steiner doubled down the right-field line to score both runs. That was all of the offense Lancaster Bible could muster in the inning however, and the Chargers lost, 11-3.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible had two hits to lead off the top of the first, but couldn't score, and the Nittany Lions took advantage by scoring a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning to make it 1-0.

The game stayed at 1-0 until the third inning when the Nittany Lions scored again, but Lancaster Bible got the run back in the top of the fourth, as Clemens led off the inning with a hit, and advanced to second on an error by the right fielder. Clemens moved to third on a sacrifice fly from DeKok, and after Steiner got on base via a bunt, and
Kendra Brown was hit by a pitch, the Chargers had the bases loaded with one out. Clemens came in to score thanks to a throwing error by the catcher, but Lancaster Bible couldn't get any more runs thanks to a double play

The Chargers tied the game in the top of the fifth when
Sonja Nelson scored via an error by the Nittany Lions, but Penn St. Berks scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead. Penn St. Berks scored two more times in the bottom of the sixth, but Lancaster Bible had one more comeback in them, as the Chargers made it 6-4 in the seventh when DeKok singled home Clemens and Lieb, but the Chargers couldn't come the whole way back, and lost by two.

Inside the Box Score: Hannah Lieb went 3-for-4 in game two with a run scored, while Clemens was 2-for-4 with two runs scored…DeKok was 1-for-4 with two RBI, while Steiner and Brown also had hits…DeKok pitched six innings, and scattered eight hits, while allowing five earned runs.
