Field Hockey Drops Hard Fought Battle With Blazers

How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible Field Hockey team dropped a hard-fought battle with Hood College by a score of 2-0 on Monday, September 20 at Donald H. Funk Field.

The Chargers (1-5 Overall) defense looked strong early in the game. Under consistent pressure, goalkeeper Alexis Garrett set her defense and made five saves to keep the game scoreless going to the second quarter. The Blazers (2-5 Overall, 0-1 MAC) would break through with a goal scored by Maddy Dillon midway through the quarter. Later in the quarter, the Blazers would earn a penalty stroke, scoring to take a 2-0 lead. LBC failed to create any scoring chances, going into the half trailing 2-0.

LBC's defense continued to be strong in the second half, fighting off five shots in the second half to remain within striking distance. The Chargers would create more offense in the second half. Molly Gray fired a shot on frame that was deflected out of bounds by the Blazers' goalkeeper, earning the Chargers a corner. Later in the quarter off another corner, Amanda Wise rocketed a shot at goal that was blocked by Hood's defense. Lancaster Bible could not find the back of the net, falling by a score of 2-0.

Who's Next

The Field Hockey team will be back in action when they host Eastern University on Friday, September 24 at 6:00 p.m. as part of the Homecoming festivities. The game will be followed by a firework display to celebrate the newly built Willis & Martha Herr Stadium.
