Women's Volleyball Wins Rematch With Methodist

How It Happened 
The Lancaster Bible Women's Volleyball team avenged their defeat to Methodist earlier in the tournament, downing the Monarchs by a score of 3-1. 

The Chargers jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first set behind a pair of kills from Cassidy King. The teams would trade points with LBC holding a slight advantage before going on a 5-0 run to take a commanding 13-6 lead in the set. Methodist would rally back winning nine fo the next eleven points to tie the game at 15. Raylee Feather would halt the run delivering back-to-back service aces. Suzanna Rouse and Kate Stoltzfus added a kill each helping the Chargers retake a four-point lead. Lancaster Bible held the advantage winning the set 25-19. 

LBC trailed for most of the second set, finding themselves down 23-19. The Chargers would capitalize on a couple of great serves from Bethany Pettis to rally back and tie the game at 24. After LBC gained the advantage, Faith Helman secured the set victory with a service ace. The third set was once again highly contested. Methodist trailed 24-22, but rallied back to send the set into a win by two situation. The Monarchs Geneva Barriger delivered a kill to take the set 27-25. 

The Chargers had another opportunity to close out the match in the fourth set, but they fell behind early, trailing 10-6. LBC would rally back, scoring eight straight points to take a 14-10 lead. Methodist would answer, tying the set at 14. The teams would then trade points, with the score eventually being tied at 22. Faith Hammond would then close the door, recording a kill and a pair of service aces, allowing LBC to pick up the win.

Inside the Numbers 
- Cassidy King posted a double-double recording 12 kills and 14 digs
- Morgan Fenstermacher had a solid outing, adding eight kills
- Faith Helman distributed 15 assists while adding 9 digs to bolster the defense
- Bethany Pettis continued to be a factor, recording six service aces
- Libero Suzanna Rouse picked up 19 digs
- Kate Stoltzfus filled the stat sheet, recording six kills, three assists, and 18 digs
- The Chargers held the advantage in kills, holding a 40-36 advantage
- The Monarchs were led by Leann Sessoms who had 10 kills

How It Happened 
The Chargers defeat of Methodist sent Lancaster Bible to the championship game to take on the hosts Bob Jones. The Chargers fell to the hosts 3-1 in the matchup.

Lancaster Bible fell behind early in the first set. Trailing 7-3, Sheyenne King came up with a kill to help recapture momentum. After trading points with the Bruins, the Chargers would go on a 5-0 run to take a 15-14 advantage. Later in the set, LBC led by one when kills by Chloe King and Faith Hammond sparked a 4-1 run, helping the Chargers take a four point lead. The Chargers would hold the lead, taking the first set 25-23. The Bruins would respond, using several large runs throughout the final three sets to capture the victory. Bob Jones was led by Victoria Glaze who recorded 16 kills and 21 digs. 

Inside the Numbers 
- Cassidy King led the Chargers offense with 12 kills
- Faith Helman dished 29 assists and added seven digs
- Leah Helman had a career high 16 digs
- Suzanna Rouse had another solid outing, picking up 15 more digs

Who's Next? 
The Women's Volleyball team will return home to begin a six-game home stand starting with a matchup with Moravian on Tuesday September 7 at 7:00 p.m.
