How It HappenedÂ
The Lancaster Bible Field Hockey team dropped their home opener to Neumann by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday, September 7.Â
The Chargers (1-2 Overall) got off to a fast start, creating a couple of scoring chances early in the game. The Red & Black drew three penalty corners that resulted in Haley Stahl firing a shot at the goal that was blocked just before reaching the back of the net. Neumann (1-1 Overall) would respond, drawing a penalty shot with Lexi Stouffer finished the opportunity, taking a 1-0 lead. Moments later Neumann would strike again, extending their advantage to 2-0. The Knights controlled play in the second quarter, holding a 3-0 lead heading into the half.Â
In the third quarter, Neumann would tack on two more goals, extending their lead to five. Lancaster Bible would finally get on the board later in the quarter. Hannah Hoffman got loose on a breakaway, drawing a foul and setting up a penalty shot. Stahl stepped to the spot and buried a shot in the back of the net. This was Stahl's first career goal. Neumann would stifle any further comeback, winning 5-1.Â
