The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team battled tough against a strong Moravian University Greyhounds team on Wednesday night. The Chargers put on one of their best performances this year but fell short on a late goal by the Greyhounds. The 1-0 loss Wednesday night puts the Chargers at 7-7 overall with just three games left in the 2022 season.
How It Happened: In the first half, the ball would switch field several times but neither team would be able to break through the defense and find the net. Out of the 10 shots the Chargers registered a total of six saves in the first half and the Greyhounds had one.
Coming out of halftime, the Greyhounds placed several shots on goal early but it was the Chargers who would control the possession for the majority of the half. In the 63
rd minute, the Chargers made a strong attack effort sending four shots on goal that just wouldn't go in. The Chargers would make a few more offensive runs before a penalty kick from a foul in the box would give the Greyhounds their first true opportunity at the goal. Senior goalkeeper
Erin Mikula wouldn't be fazed though making a diving save and keeping the score tied at zero. Unfortunately, not a minute later the Greyhounds would place a bouncing shot on goal that would bounce just over Mikula's hands and into the goal. The Greyhounds would score the lone goal ending the game 1-0 in a strong showing from the Chargers squad.
