Women’s Soccer Routes Bison in Senior Day Win

Chargers 7, Bison 0

The Lancaster Bible women's soccer team raced to a 7-0 victory over the Gallaudet University Bison on Saturday afternoon giving the Chargers their fourth United East Conference win of the 2022 season. Following the win, the Chargers move to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in conference.

How It Happened: It wouldn't take long for the Chargers to find the goal on what would be a bittersweet night for the program. Senior Ketty Akselsen was the first to score just 1:45 into the start of the game off an assist from Megan Rogers. Senior Bryanna Hoover would follow up with two of her own goals in the third and fifth minutes of the game off assists from Mikayla Beers and Elaina Dinse. Just five minutes into the game and the Chargers led 3-0.

Senior Megan Rogers tallied a goal herself in the seventh minute on an assist from Hoover. Hoover then scored her third goal in the 31st minute to complete her hat trick for the game on a pass from teammate and fellow senior Mikayla Beers. Kendal Ream added a goal of her own in the 35th minute just before heading to halftime, extending the Charger lead to 6-0.

The second half would slow down some with the opportunity for several substitutions to take place. While the Chargers would have several more opportunities to put more points on the board, the lone goal of the half featured another senior Adeline Moore off an assist from Brittney Taylor in the 79th minute. The game would end in an impressive 7-0 win over the Bison.

From the Coach: "It was great to honor our senior class today with a win! These 10 girls have left an incredible legacy on our program." - Head Coach Jake Warren

By the Numbers:
  • Bryanna Hoover had three goals and one assist on the day.
  • Akselsen, Rogers, Ream, and Moore all added goals of their own.
  • Rogers, Beers, Elaina Dinse, and Taylor all featured an assist.

Information to Know: The Chargers currently sit at fifth place within the United East standings and will wait to see if anything happens with either St. Mary's (Md.) or Penn College to see if they can squeak into the top four.

This was also our largest senior class in program history totaling 10 seniors!

Up Next: The Chargers will complete their 2022 regular season with two more non-conference contests at Goucher on October 25th and their final home match against Eastern on October 29th.
