Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Hunter Gerber

Men’s Soccer Blank Bison

Lancaster Bible 4, Gallaudet 0

The Lancaster Bible men's soccer team won their third consecutive game Saturday night 4-0 against the Bison of Gallaudet University as the program celebrated their 50th anniversary. The conference win moves the Chargers to 11-3-3 overall and 6-1-1 in United East play. Currently in the United East standings, the Chargers sit in second and clinched their spot in playoffs last week against Penn St. Abington.

How It Happened: The game would prove to be a physical one from the start as both teams would push to find a break in the defense. The Chargers opened with several shots on goal trying to turn up the offensive tempo. Only a total of eight shots were recorded for the first half with the Chargers having five of them. Despite the up-tempo speed, the game would go into halftime scoreless.

The second half was a different story. Sophomore Matthew Eufemia received a ball on the right side of the box from Ben Nolt to give the Chargers their first goal of the game in the 48th minute. Feeding off the newfound energy, Owen Nell would place a screamer into the goal on an assist from Sam Glock, pushing the lead to 2-0. Keeping the Bison on their toes, the Chargers wouldn't let up on the attack, and a corner from Andrew Cox would find senior Tanner Shertzer who would place a header into the back right of the goal, extending the lead to 3-0. With the game in control, and with no sign of turning back, the Chargers would finish the contest with just one more goal for good measure in the 88th minute on a Jackson Shreiner goal from Andres Godoy.

By the Numbers: The Chargers outshot the Bison 10-6 with 7 of those being on goal… they also had 5 corners to add to their offensive attack… both teams registered three saves each.

Information to Know: The Chargers now has recorded nine shutouts for the season, this is the second most in program history behind the 1991 season which featured 10 shutouts.

This is also the third time in just five seasons that the Chargers have won 11 or more games.

Up Next: The Chargers will wrap up their 2022 regular season next Friday, October 28th at 6 p.m. versus non-conference opponent Penn St. Altoona.
