Women's Soccer Cruises to 6-0 Victory Over Express

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 victory over the Wells College Express on Saturday afternoon. The contest with the Express was the sixth United East Conference match for this 2022 season and their second overall win. The win featured several season first goals including ones from junior Naomi Ewing and and seniors Ketty Akselsen, Brittney Taylor, and Mikayla Beers. Senior Bryanna Hoover would have two goals for the game. The Chargers are now 5-6 overall and 2-4 in United East Conference play.

How It Happened: The Chargers would come out on attack mode and stay in that mode for the rest of the 90 minutes. It wouldn't be until the 31st minute that senior Bryanna Hoover would take the lid off for the Chargers on an assist from fellow senior Kara Huber. Not long after at the 37th minute Ewing would take it herself and send a ball over the goalie's head into the goal putting the Charger lead at 2-0. Senior Ketty Akselsen would find the board in the 44th minute on an assist from Hoover, placing the Charger lead to 3-0 heading into halftime. The first half would feature 34 Lancaster Bible shots alone.

The second half would open up the same way as the first half, but it wouldn't be too long until senior Brittney Taylor would score her first goal of the season on the left side of the box on a great assist from Jade Weir. After several more shots, Hoover would find herself outside the box on the right side with just 20 minutes left in the game and put a beautiful shot into the left corner of the goal. The Charger lead would be 5-0, then Senior Mikayla Beers would add to the list of season firsts with a goal of her own that would lob just over the goalie's head at the 77th minute, sealing the win at 6-0.

From the Coach: "We started the game well, but we couldn't finish our chances. But I like how we got contributions from a lot of girls today and it was a solid team performance." – Head Coach Jake Warren

By the Numbers:
  • Hoover would have two goals, marking four goals for the season, and one assist for the day.
  • Taylor, Ewing, and Beers would all add one goal.
  • The Chargers would have 51 shots with 23 of those being on target including five corner kicks.
Up Next: The Chargers will have a quick turnaround as they head to Keystone College on Monday, October 10th for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
