The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team had its two-game winning streak snapped by Albright on Tuesday night at Horst Athletic Center, as the Lions defeated the Chargers, 88-72. The loss drops the Chargers to 3-3 overall this season, while the Lions improved to 4-4 overall.
How it Happened: It was the Lions from the jump, running out to a 7-0 lead just three minutes into the game. A
Seth Beers three-pointer at 16:56 would be the first of only 22 Charger first-half points. The Lions lead, on the other hand, grew to as much as 34 points in the first half, the largest lead of the game. The Chargers headed into halftime facing a 31-point deficit.
Coming out in the second half, the Chargers did whatever it took to chip away at the Lions' lead, but consistent offensive threats and poor Charger turnovers would keep the deficit in double digits. It wouldn't be until the 4:38 mark behind a series of strong defensive stops and back-to-back three point field goals from
Ty Erisman that the Chargers would achieve its lowest deficit of the game thus far, down 17 points. With a newfound spark, the Chargers looked to get over the hump and bring the deficit into single digits, but the Lions' lead proved to be too much in the end. Despite the second half efforts of the Chargers, the Lions finished the game with a 16-point win of 88-72.
