How it Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team defeated Cairn University 3-1 to open the tri-match on Saturday, February 12.
The Chargers (9-4 Overall) started quickly in the first set, racing out to a 5-1 lead behind kills by
Elijah Herb and
Hunter Davis. After Cairn (0-2 Overall) halted the run, the Chargers regained momentum on a kill by Herb. LBC then went on a 5-1 run, taking an eight-point lead. In full control of the set, the Chargers continued to push their advantage, rolling to 17-point lead in the set.
Dawson Forney closed out the set victory, slamming down one last kill to put the Chargers ahead 1-0 in the match.
LBC again started quickly in the second set, grabbing a 4-0 advantage. Forney would make the score 7-3 by rocketing a kill. The Chargers continued to grow the lead, taking a six-point advantage midway through the set.
Kevin Koch smashed a pair of kills and the Chargers capitalized on several Highlanders errors to win the second set 25-17.
The Chargers led by as many as six points early in the set, but Cairn rallied back using a 7-1 run to take a 19-17 lead in the set.
Kole Horst tried to rally the Chargers back, smashing three kills to give LBC a 22-21 lead. Cairn battled back, winning four of the final five points to take the set 25-23.
LBC regrouped after dropping the third set, turning a two-point deficit into a three-point lead with a 6-0 run highlighted by a
Tanner Shertzer service ace.
Hunter Davis slammed down back-to-back thunderous kills helping spark a 4-0 run that put the Chargers ahead 17-12. LBC closed the match on a 6-1 run with Horst securing the victory with one last kill.

How it Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team took down Geneva College (Pa.) in straight sets in the second game of the tri-match on Saturday, February 12.
The first set was back-and-forth in the beginning, with the teams trading points and finding themselves tied at nine. The Chargers (10-4 Overall) launched into a 6-0 run accented by kills from
Kole Horst and
Dawson Forney. After the Golden Tornadoes (4-9 Overall) went on a 7-1 run to tie the set at 17,
Elijah Herb landed a service ace to put LBC back up by two. Herb led the Chargers' attack with 15 kills in the match. With the set tied late at 23, Horst knocked down a kill and an ace to give Lancaster Bible the 25-23 set victory.
LBC opened the second set on a 3-0 run with kills by Herb and
Hunter Davis. Both teams traded points for the entire middle portion of the set until Geneva went on a 3-0 run to take a 20-17 advantage. Trailing 24-21, the Chargers fought off three straight set points to stay alive and tie the game at 24. The Golden Tornadoes would not go away, fighting off five consecutive set points to send the match to a 30-30 tie. With a sixth chance to clinch the set,
Caleb Roberts threw down the final kill to clinch the second set victory by a score of 32-30.
Geneva took an early 3-2 lead in the third set, but a pair of kills from Herb helped the Chargers regain the lead 6-4. A kill by Davis and a
Kole Horst service ace propelled LBC to a four-point advantage. Geneva went on a late 4-0 run to pull within two points, but
Tanner Shertzer highlighted a 3-0 response to put the team back up by five. Kills by Horst and Herb gave Lancaster Bible the 25-23 set win and secured the straight set victory.
