Men's Basketball Gets Blowout Win At Berks

How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team drained a season-high 13 3-pointers in a 104-64 victory over Penn St. Berks on Wednesday, February 9.
 
The Chargers (16-6 Overall, 10-1 United East) got off to a fast start with Tyler Hilton slashing to the basket for the first points of the game. Jordan Shewbridge extended the lead to five, converting a three-point play. After Penn St. Berks (0-18 Overall, 0-12 United East) got on the board, Shewbridge stormed to the basket for another layup.  Shewbridge remained hot, drilling a jump shot in transition to make the score 9-2. Grant Sareyka swished a 3-pointer from the top of the key and capped off the 12-2 run to open the game. Later in the half, Andrew Zentner ran the floor, finishing a layup in transition to extend the lead to 12 points. Zentner then pulled in an offensive rebound and put back the layup drawing a foul and converting the three-point play. Shewbridge heated up from distance, hitting three 3-pointers in a two-minute span, stretching the lead to 29 points and capping off a 21-0 run. The Chargers continued scoring at will with Sareyka hitting a 3-pointer and then converting a lay up to make the score 40-11. With three minutes remaining in the half, Ethan Beachy hit his second 3-pointer of the game, putting the Chargers ahead by 30 points. Jakari Wilkins followed with a 3-pointer of his own, making the score 58-28. Sareyka and Wilkins each hit another 3-pointer before the end of the half giving LBC a 64-30 lead at the break. As a team, the Chargers made 10 3-points in the first half, shooting 58.8% from beyond the arc.
 
Adam Stoltzfus opened the scoring in the second half, powering in a layup of a pass from Hilton. Shewbridge followed with a layup to stretch the lead to 38 points. Later in the half, Maureon Tisdale-Couch scored an easy layup after a spectacular pass from Zentner. Ty Erisman scored five consecutive points, drilling a 3-pointer and finishing a layup in transition. Zentner connected on a jump shot, stretching the lead 47 points. In full control of the game, the Chargers turned to their bench to close out the victory. Bijan Hunter II and Ryan Hilton each found their way onto the stat sheet, helping the team secure a 104-64 victory.
 
Inside the Numbers
- The Chargers were led by Jordan Shewbridge, who scored 18 points, hitting on three 3-pointers
- Grant Sareyka poured in 13 points, connecting three times from beyond the arc
- Andrew Zentner continued to shine coming off the bench, scoring 17 points in just 10 minutes of action
- Adam Stoltzfus led the team in rebounds, pulling in nine boards
- Jordan Praylow dished a game-high six assists
- Penn St. Berks was led by Hassan Koroma who scored 13 points
- LBC won the battle on glass, holding a 46-32 edge in rebounds
- The Chargers knocked down 13 3-pointers, which is the most made in a single game this season

Coaching Points
"I thought we did a good job accomplishing our goals for the game and remaining focus on getting better," said head coach Jon Mack. "It was good to see our entire team contribute to the win. We will now focus on preparing for another matchup with a very good and physical St. Mary's team."
 
Who's Next
The men's basketball team will return home to face St. Mary's College of Maryland for the second time this week on Saturday, February 12 at 5:00 p.m.
