How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team defeated Arcadia University in straight sets on Wednesday, February 9.
The Chargers (8-4 Overall) took an early lead in the first set, with
Dawson Forney slamming down the first kill of the game. Arcadia (2-6 Overall) traded points with LBC, taking a 3-2 lead. The set was highly contested with neither team leading by more than three points at any point during the set. Trailing 14-11,
Elijah Herb smashed a kill, starting a 4-0 run for the Chargers.
Kole Horst stretched the Chargers advantage firing a kill. The Knights battled back going on a 4-0 run to retake a two-point advantage. Horst answered back posting another kill, helping the Chargers tie the set at 20. With the score tied at 21, Horst smashed back-to-back kills allowing LBC to take a 23-21 lead. The Chargers capitalized on a pair of Knight errors, winning the set 25-21.
After the teams traded points to open the second set, the Chargers took control going on a 4-0 run powered by Forney and Herb. Later in the set, LBC embarked on a 6-1 run capped off with a thunderous kill from
Kole Horst giving LBC an 18-12 lead. Arcadia tried to rally back, going on a 4-0 run to close within three points. Forney halted the run with a powerful kill, giving LBC a 22-18 lead. The Chargers scored the final three points of the set with a block by
Elijah Herb securing the set victory.
The Chargers jumped out to an early lead in the third set, grabbing a 3-0 lead. The Knights would fight back, eventually pulling within one-point.
Caleb Roberts delivered a service ace, sparking a 4-1 run, allowing the Chargers to take a 12-8 advantage. Arcadia did not go away, going on a 3-0 to make the score 13-12. The Chargers seized the momentum in the set going on an 8-0 run that featured three blocks.
Hunter Davis closed out the set victory, with one final kill securing the straight set victory. Â

"We started out squirrelly, but our guys stuck together and buckled down defensively to close out the last two sets," said head coach
Jade Brubaker.

The men's volleyball team will host a tri-match with Cairn University and Geneva College (Pa.) on Saturday, February 12 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
