How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College baseball team dropped their first United East game of the season, falling to Penn College by a score of 15-5 on Friday, March 18.
Penn College (7-6 Overall, 1-0 United East) started fast, scoring six runs in the first inning and forcing LBC's starting pitcher
Trevor High from the game. The Wildcats capitalized on three early errors, adding another run in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead. The Chargers (5-8 Overall, 0-1 United East) started their rally to get back in the game in the bottom of the second inning.
Tyler Cunningham reached on an error to lead off the inning.
Harrison Hobdy lifted a double into right field, putting runners on second and third.
Josh Noll hit a hard ground ball to the short stop, allowing Cunningham to score.
Kaden Hunt then smacked a single up the middle, scoring Hobdy to make the score 7-2.
The Chargers continued their rally in the third inning.
Brian Coburn led off the inning with a single into left field.
Ethan Varricchione then drove a single down the left field line putting runners on first and second. After Cunningham worked a walk,
James Toney drew a walk, bringing in a run. Hobdy lifted a fly ball into left field driving in another run, making the score 7-4. LBC added another run in the fourth inning. Hunt led off with a single through the left side, eventually advancing to second on a passed ball and stealing third base to put himself in scoring position. Hunt then scored, capitalizing on a wild pitch to make the score 7-5.
LBC had a runner on base in the fifth inning, but could not bring home another run, continuing to trail by two. Penn College's offense found their rhythm in the seventh inning, scoring eight runs to put the game out of reach, eventually winning 15-5.

How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College baseball team rebounded from their game one loss, defeating Penn College 7-3 to even their series at one game apiece.
The Chargers (6-8 Overall, 1-1 United East) started this game much stronger, scoring two runs in the first inning.
Blake Greenly led off with a single, stealing second and advancing to third on a wild pitch.
Brian Coburn smacked a single allowing Greenly to score and giving LBC the 1-0 lead. Coburn eventually worked himself into scoring position, scoring on a single into right field by
Tyler Cunningham.
Penn College (7-7 Overall, 1-1 United East) fought back, scoring a run in the top of the third inning. Starting pitcher
Owen Shimmel controlled the Wildcats, recording 10 strikeouts in 7.0 innings of action.
The Chargers seized momentum in the fifth inning. Greenly reached on an infield single and stole second base. Coburn lifted a single into right field, scoring Greenly to give LBC a 4-1 lead.
Ethan Varricchione then singled to right field to put runners on first and second. Cunningham absolutely crushed a three-run home run over the left field fence, putting the Chargers ahead 7-1.
Penn College scored a run in the top of the sixth inning and added a run in the top of the ninth inning. The Wildcats worked the bases loaded in the ninth inning, but Greenly came in to pitch, slamming the door shut and securing the 7-3 victory. Â
