Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Hunter Gerber

Lancaster Bible Downs Wilson

The Lancaster Bible women's volleyball team entered the win column on Tuesday night as they swept the Wilson College Phoenix in three sets: 25-6; 25-13; 25-16. The win moves the overall record for the Chargers to 1-5 for the season and 0-7 for the Phoenix.

How It Happened: The offensive game came alive tonight for the Chargers featuring 35 kills, 13 aces, and 5 blocks. The Chargers would come out of the gate firing as they jumped to an early 7-1 lead behind kills from Morgan Fenstermacher, Chloe King, and Sheyenne King. More would join the party as freshmen Riley Dodrer added one and Grace Farlow fired off three kills to place the lead at a comfortable 18-5 score. Behind several more kills and tough defense, the Chargers would dominate the first set with a 25-6 final score.

The Phoenix would show some life at the beginning of the second set, but they couldn't steal the show from senior captain Chloe King as she put away a set-high seven kills to the lead the Chargers to a 2-0 advantage. Freshmen Grace Farlow and Sophia Ansel would also show up big, adding two kills each.

The third set would be much the same as the Chargers escaped to a 8-2 lead early and never looked back ending with a 26-16 win and 3-0 sweep. The third set would feature kills from a list of the Chargers attack including Farlow, Ansel, King, and Fenstermacher. Not to be overlooked, senior setter Faith Helman would add a game-high 16 assists and sophomore teammate Emma Shaeffer would add 10 assists. Along with Farlow's 10 kills, she'd have 10 digs and Leah Helman would finish with a team-high four aces and seven digs.

A strong win for the Chargers as they look to build momentum going into their last two weeks of the long road trip.

From the Coach: "We played well and stayed consistent throughout the match. It was great to see us play hungry and be more consistent as we continue to improve here in the early part of the season." – Head Coach Julie Brubaker

By the Numbers: The Chargers would hold the advantage across the board in tonight's win featuring 35-14 in kills, 13-5 in aces, 5-0 in blocks, and 35-14 in assists. Chloe King would lead the way in kills for the game at 13 and Morgan Fenstermacher would finish with an impressive four blocks.
