Final – 4 Lancaster Bible, 0 Gwynedd Mercy
Following a dominant performance from the Lancaster Bible women's soccer team in a 2-0 win over Cairn University last Wednesday, the Chargers would follow up with a convincing 4-0 win over the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University on Tuesday night. The win puts the Chargers overall record to 3-1 overall as conference play opens this Saturday; the Griffins move to 2-2-1.
How It Happened: The Chargers would come out fast, scoring their first goal of the night in the sixth minute on a great connection between senior captains
Kara Huber and
Megan Rogers. Huber would place the ball through the box to Rogers who would find herself right in front of the goal putting the ball off the right post and in.
The Chargers wouldn't stop there though, keeping the foot on the gas they would go on to score two more goals within fifteen minutes of the start of the contest. Huber would follow up her assist with her own goal as she was in the right place at the right time to tap in a turnover in the box. The score would move to 2-0 just 9:43 minutes into the game.
Senior attack
Kendal Ream would make her mark and enter the Chargers score column at the 13:25 mark off a through pass from teammate
Jade Weir which led to a breakaway up the middle and ultimately a ball in the back of the net. This would be Ream's first goal of the season.
Coming out of halftime, the Chargers would need one just for reassurance, as Ream made a pass across the middle finding the left foot of Huber who would punch it in the left side of the goal moving the score to 4-0.
The Chargers offense was hot, but the defense stood their ground as tonight holding the Griffins to only 11 shots which only three were on goal and zero corner kicks. This would be their third shutout out of four games this season.
From the Coach: "It was a great collective effort tonight. We had contributions from everyone, and it was positive to get some early goals that set the tone." –
Head Coach Jake Warren
