The Lancaster Bible College women's volleyball team would drop a hard fought three-set battle with Cabrini University on Thursday night. The match would end on a thriller third set featuring a final score of 37-35 and ending the match, giving Cabrini the 3-0 sweep. Following the loss, the Chargers will move to a record of 0-5 while Cabrini bumps to 3-1 on the year.

How It Happened: After taking an early 2-0 lead, the Chargers (0-5, 0-0 United East) fell into a 6-2 deficit. The Cavaliers (3-1, 0-0 Atlantic East) continued to pull away quickly, stretching the lead to as many as eight points early on. Grace Farlow had a pair of kills in the set, but Cabrini made quick work of LBC in the first set, winning by a set score of 25-8.
The offense began to pick up for the Chargers in the second set, with Morgan Fenstermacher slamming back-to-back kills to keep the score close. Cabrini then launched on a 9-1 scoring run to stretch their lead to nine points. A string of errors by the Cavaliers culminated with a service ace from Farlow to make the score 19-15, and the score remained close for the remainder of the set. Chloe King and Riley Dodrer each added a kill, but set two fell to Cabrini, 25-19.
The final set saw a nonstop back-and-forth battle between Cabrini and Lancaster Bible, with neither team leading by more than two points the entire set. Sheyenne King had a service ace early on to give LBC a 5-3 lead. After some errors by Cabrini, Faith Hammond knocked a kill to put LBC up 17-16. Fenstermacher and Sheyenne King landed kills to help maintain the edge, but the Cavaliers wouldn't go away, continuing to draw even with the Chargers and forcing extra points. Sophia Ansel had four kills in extra points, helping extend the match in hopes of LBC's first set victory of 2022. In what was undoubtedly LBC's best set of the season, Cabrini pulled away for a thrilling 37-35 victory to complete the sweep.

From the Coach: "We talked a lot about caring for one another well and actively pursuing a fight. We started off a little rocky in the match but we made a few changes and things got exciting in the third set. The girls really went all out, hustling and had this desire to play well and play for each other. I'm glad we ended on a high note even though the outcome didn't go our way." - Asst. Coach Kaitlyn Yates

By the Numbers:

- Morgan Fenstermacher had a team-high six kills
- Faith Helman dished 14 assists for the Chargers
- Chloe King and Grace Farlow each added five kills
- Leah Helman anchored the defense with eight digs
