Women’s Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight Game

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team played their first road conference game at Penn St. Abington on Tuesday night, sweeping the Lions 3-0 and winning their fifth straight contest. The Chargers are now 12-6 overall and improve to 3-0 in United East play, while the Lions drop to 8-11 overall and 0-2 in conference.

How it Happened:
Madeline Reed got the Chargers started with a service ace on the first point, sparking a 13-1 opening run supplemented by three more aces from senior Chloe King. The Chargers rolled through the rest of the first set to earn a 25-8 win.

Abington played the Chargers much closer in the second set, trading points with LBC and putting several kills past the defense. Kills from King and Lea Sareyka helped the Chargers create separation in the middle of the set, then Morgan Fenstermacher had several kills to put LBC over the top and round out set two 25-18.

The Chargers fell behind early in set three, with the Lions opening with four straight points. Kills from Faith Hammond and aces from Hammond and Leah Helman brought the Chargers storming back to take a 9-8 lead. From there, a six-point run powered by several kills and aces from red jerseys gave LBC some breathing room, but Abington cut the deficit back to four points late in the set. It was Chloe King that knocked back-to-back kills to finish out set three 25-19 and lead the Chargers to a sweep of Penn St. Abington.
