The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team took on conference rival Keystone College on Saturday, dropping the home contest by a score of 9-1. The Chargers drop to 4-11 on the season and 0-2 in United East play, while the Giants improve to 9-3 overall and a perfect 3-0 in conference. Before the game, the team and fans took time to celebrate Senior Day, honoring lone senior
Alyssa Hamilton for her three-year career as a Charger Field Hockey player.
How It Happened: After some time of back-and-forth play, the Giants didn't give the Chargers much time to think scoring three goals in the first period beginning at the eight-minute mark. With a three-goal deficit, the Chargers back down as the defense held the fast-paced Giants to just three shots as well as getting three shots of their own and two penalty corners.
Â
After being stalled in the second period, the Giants returned from the half for another three-goal period giving them a comfortable 6-0 lead after three periods of play. The Giants added another four goals in the fourth period, but it was the Chargers who scored the last goal of the game as
Alexis Gilbert made a great run and acrobatic play on the ball to score the Chargers lone goal of the game.
Â
By the Numbers: The Chargers were outshot 23-6 by the Giants… the Giants tallied three saves and the Chargers one… both teams had six corners apiece.
Â
Up Next: The Chargers head to conference foe Cedar Crest on Tuesday, October 24 for their last regular season game of 2023.
