The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team closed out their regular season in a road match against Cedar Crest that was lost 3-2. Following the loss, the Chargers are now 4-12 overall and 0-3 in the United East. Meanwhile, the Falcons also hold an overall record of 4-12, but they are 1-1 in the conference.
How It Happened: In the first quarter, both defenses came to play early as Cedar Crest had the first shot of the game for either side, but Lancaster Bible goalkeeper
Amanda Hoover made the save.
Molly Gray pushed it up for the Chargers and had a shot as well, but the Falcons' defense blocked the shot attempt. However, the Falcons soon changed the tides scoring the first goal of the game nine minutes in. Cedar Crest continued to pressure Lancaster Bible in the second quarter, and Hoover came out with another save as a result. Again, the Falcons broke through to put up their second goal in the 20
th minute. Just a few minutes later,
Riley Danko had a shot on goal for the Chargers, but it ended as a save for the Falcons. Cedar Crest had another last-second attempt, but following a fourth Hoover save, the Chargers entered halftime down 2-0.
The third quarter was all about defense for both sides. There were only two shots the whole quarter, both by Cedar Crest; one was off-target and the other was saved by Hoover once again. The Chargers tightened things down defensively following halftime, but they still entered the final quarter with a two-point deficit. In the fourth quarter, the Falcons came back angry getting two early shots, but both were saved by Hoover. The Chargers also had some pressure of their own getting a handful of opportunities from corners, but Cedar Crest capitalized on a corner of their own scoring the third goal of the game. Late in the game,
Molly Gray tried to muster a comeback for the Chargers and scored two goals to close out the game, but it wasn't enough as the team fell 3-2.
