Head Coach
Katy Latta shared some thoughts and reflections on the day. She first shared the teams' three goals for the day (all of which were accomplished):
1: To give our best effort
2: To beat our preview time
3: To bring home hardware
She continued by sharing, "This was a challenging day due to heat and competitive teams. While we came just shy of being conference champs, we can hold our heads high and use it to motivate us for the coming years. We have proven we've got a solid foundation (first in Christ, then with individuals) that will help us continue to be contenders for many years."Â
Coach Latta also wanted to recognize senior Alex McWilliams for his leadership and composure in gathering the LBC teams with another team whose member was struggling with the heat after the race to lead them in prayer together.
Below are some quotes from assistant coaches and athletes about the day:
Caleb Basile (assistant coach): "I am incredibly proud of the runners, not just because of their strong end to their season but to see them grow in Christ has been my greatest joy."
Amanda All (assistant coach): "I am so proud of how both our men's and women's teams raced today! Both teams showed perseverance and grit in the challenging parts of the course!"
Adam Horning (Senior): "I am very proud of how the team ran today. Everyone puts 100% effort into training and racing so it was great to see that demonstrated at conference champs today. I think we have laid a great foundation for the future success of LBC XC."
Alex McWilliams (Senior): "I think we accomplished the task that we sought to accomplish today. That task was seeing the Lord glorified. Both the men's and women's teams gave their absolute best, and we also cultivated a Christ-centered community outside of our own team today with teams such as Penn College. I am thankful to be a part of this team, and I look forward to closing out the season at Regionals."
Jurnee Acosta (Senior): "I feel so blessed and honored to have been able to race today. Men's and women's did so well and I'm so proud of us. I say this to everyone but we really have a special, loving, close, and Christ-centered dynamic."
