Chargers Sweep their Trip North, Beat Wells 7-0

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team didn't waste much time this weekend beating the Wells Express 7-0 on Sunday afternoon after beating Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. The Chargers are now 4-8 overall while the Express fall to 0-9 on the year.

How It Happened: Carrying on the momentum from Saturday's win, the Chargers sent multiple shots on goal during the first period but were not able to find the scoreboard. It wasn't until the second period that the floodgates opened for the Chargers as junior Molly Gray and junior Alexis Gilbert got back-to-back goals to open the period. Junior Haley Stahl then added one of her own to make it a 3-0 Chargers lead followed by Mattie Krieg scoring her first collegiate goal on an assist from Riley Danko to end the first half with a 4-0 lead.

Gray found the net again just a minute into the second half on an assist from Mira Rineer. Ending the period just as she started it, Gray got her third goal of the game at 44:48 on Danko's second assist to make it 6-0 with one more period to go. The Express slowed down the Chargers in the fourth as the goalie saved several shots, but Gilbert managed to score the last goal and her second goal of the game with just seven minutes left in the game.

By the Numbers: The Chargers outshot the Express 38-5… the Express had 17 saves to the Chargers 3… the Chargers nabbed 15 total penalty corners… Gray had a hat trick with three goals, Gilbert had two goals, Krieg and Stahl each had one goal… Danko had two assists and Rineer added one.

Information to Know: Lancaster Bible is now 3-1 all-time against Wells College, winning their last three contests... Seven goals today is the most the Chargers have scored against Wells and their most in a single game since September 4, 2021 when they beat Southern Virginia 7-1. Junior Molly Gray recorded her sixth career game with multiple goals and her second career three-goal game... Gray also surpassed 20 career goals and 100 career shots, both the most in program history (since 2018)... Alexis Gilbert is now tied with teammate Hannah Hoffman for the second-most goals since 2018 with nine goals and sits in 3rd since 2018 in both points (19) and shots (45). Freshman Riley Danko recorded three assists this weekend with two today and one on Saturday, tying her with Gray for the second-most assists by a Charger since 2018.
