Chargers Push Past Hood, 56-50

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Basketball team used a late fourth quarter rally to pull out a 56-50 win over the Hood Blazers on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers move to 2-8 overall, 0-2 in the United East while the Blazers drop to 0-6 overall.

How It Happened: The game was within a few possessions for almost the entirety of the forty minutes. It began with the Chargers jumping out to an early 9-4 lead thanks to baskets from Jenna Dombach, Natalie Wenger, and Raven Hunter. The Blazers clawed back to take a 14-11 lead with just two minutes left in the first, but a steal and layup from freshman Isabella Eufemia cut the deficit to one to end the first quarter, 14-13.

The lead changed five total times in the second quarter alone. Hunter got things going early thanks to an assist from Eufemia, but the Blazers responded with a layup of their own. A pair of baskets from Wenger and Iwais brought the lead to 20-16 before the Blazers again tied the game at 20-20 with little over four minutes to play. It was a steal from Shelby Gard and layup from Iwais with just 27 seconds left to play that gave the Chargers a 27-26 lead at the half.

A three-pointer from Jenna Dombach gave the Chargers their biggest lead of the game three minutes into the second half, 37-29. At the end of the third quarter the Chargers found themselves with just a four-point lead. Looking to capitalize off their momentum and seal their second win of the season, the Blazers managed to tie the game three different times in the final quarter of play. Tied at 46-46 with just under four minutes left to play, a layup from freshman Rachel Nolt sparked a 10-4 run to end the game, giving the Chargers a 56-50 win.
