The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team opened up Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Saturday evening, taking down Bryn Athyn College in a 3-0 sweep for their first CSAC win as a program. The Chargers improve to 11-8 overall and 1-0 in CSAC play, while the Lions drop to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in the CSAC.
How it Happened: A kill from senior
Elijah Herb and a service ace from
Michael Myers got the Chargers off to a quick 3-1 start. Some LBC errors kept it close early, but the Chargers launched on a huge 10-point run with kills from
Dawson Forney,
Jake Rotelle, and four service aces from senior
Hunter Davis. The Chargers and Lions traded points for the next few minutes, Then back-to-back service aces from Herb helped the Chargers close out set one, 25-12.
A kill and a service ace from Rotelle got the Chargers off to a 4-0 start in the second set. Three kills from Herb and a slew of Lions errors quickly extended the LBC lead to 12-2 as Bryn Athyn called a timeout. Substitutions began to come in for both teams as the Chargers sealed the second set, 25-8.
Coach
Jade Brubaker went deep into his bench for the third set as the Chargers continued to roll past Bryn Athyn.
Ben Latham and
Tyler Martin both landed service aces, while Myers and
Vladimir Podgorodniy each knocked their first kills of the season. Freshman
Nicholas Vega came into the game and landed three straight service aces and
Mac Swineford assisted
Zach Herb on his first kill of the season, with
DJ Omogrosso capping off the night with a service ace to close out set three, 25-8 and a conference-opening sweep of the Lions.

Zach Herb all got their first kills of 2023.
Elijah Heyworth and
Mac Swineford both dished their first assists of the season, with Heyworth recording nine in total. Freshman
Christian Herr now has 642 assists this season, the 7
th-most in a single season in program history.
