The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team traveled just up the road to Elizabethtown, Pa. for a tri-match with Elizabethtown and Arcadia on Saturday, March 18. The Chargers ended up splitting the day, beating Elizabethtown 3-1 then losing to Arcadia in a 2-3 thriller. Following the split, the Chargers move to 13-9 overall and stay 2-0 in CSAC play.
Elizabethtown, 3-1 Win
How It Happened: The Chargers took a two-set advantage, beating the Blue Jays 25-21 and 26-24. Falling in the third set, the Chargers bounced back to finish the win with a close 25-23 win on an ace from freshman
Jake Rotelle.
By the Numbers: The Chargers tallied 54 kills compared to the Blue Jays' 34 kills… the Chargers edged out the Jays in aces 5-4… the Chargers dished out 47 assists and had 41 digs…
Elijah Herb had a game-high 20 kills… Rotelle added 15 kills, one ace, and one block…
Hunter Davis had two aces and two blocks…
Tyler Martin added two aces…
Tanner Shertzer had a game-high 14 digs and
Ben Latham added nine digs of his own…
Christian Herr dished out 42 assists.
Arcadia, 2-3 Loss
How It Happened: Like the first game, the Chargers went up two sets, but fell to the Knights in the last three sets by a combined eleven points. The Chargers lost a close fifth set, falling 13-15.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had 53 kills to the Knights' 60… the Chargers added two assists and nine blocks but were edged out in all categories besides digs which they won 44-39… Herb had a team-high 18 kills and added three blocks… Rotelle added fifteen kills… Forney had nine kills and four blocks…
Hunter Davis had a team-high six blocks… Shertzer had 16 digs and
Christian Herr dished out 40 assists and had nine digs.
