Chargers Drop Two Against Seahawks

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lancaster Bible College baseball team squared off for a United East Conference double-header against the St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawks on Sunday, a game that was originally supposed to be played on Saturday but was moved due to rain. The Chargers dropped both games losing 10-2 and 12-4 moving the Chargers to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in conference while the Seahawks improve to 6-6 overall and 4-1 in conference.

Game One, 10-2 Loss

How It Happened: Looking to turn things around, the Chargers fell early after the Seahawks put two runs on the board in the top of the 1st inning. The Seahawks put two more on the board before the Chargers managed to score a run in the bottom of the 2nd inning when senior Kaden Hunt singled sending freshman Jack Nance into home. Trying to close the 4-1 gap, senior Blake Greenly doubled to start the bottom of the third inning and fellow senior Brian Coburn singled to get Greenly home for a 4-2 deficit.

The Chargers though wouldn't be able to keep the momentum rolling though as the Seahawks scored six more runs and the Chargers remained scoreless.

By the Numbers: The Chargers had five hits and two runs including two doubles while the Seahawks had 11 hits for 10 runs and added two homeruns… Greenly, Coburn, Hunt, James Toney, and Dylan Witkowski added a hit… Cole Tarleton went 3-5 for the Seahawks.

Game Two, 12-4 Loss

How It Happened: Much like the first game, the Seahawks were the first to strike scoring their first run in the top of the 1st inning. The Chargers showed some fight tying the game in the bottom of the inning as Greenly paid back Coburn with a double sending Coburn home.

The Seahawks scored nine more runs through the top of the fourth inning making it a 10-1 ballgame. The Chargers put up three more runs through nine innings, but it wasn't enough as they fell 12-4.

By the Numbers: The Chargers had 11 hits including four runs, three RBI's, and three stolen bases… the Seahawks had 14 hits for 12 runs and 12 RBI's… Greenly went 4-5 with three singles and a double… Toney added a homerun.

Up Next: The Chargers will close out the three game series with the Seahawks tomorrow, Monday the 26th at 10:00 a.m.
