Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Ben James

Chargers Cruise by the Eagles

The Lancaster Bible's men's volleyball team grabbed another win on Wednesday, March 29, as they swept the Saint Elizabeth Eagles in CSAC play. The Chargers improve to 17-9 on the year with a 5-0 conference record. Meanwhile, the Eagles fall to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference as their impressive six-game winning streak has been snapped.

How It Happened: In the first set, things started off fairly close for both teams, but the Chargers soon pulled away with an 8-0 run to give them a 16-5 lead behind two kills and a block from Michael Myers. Lancaster Bible maintained their lead, and Hunter Davis capped off the first set with two aces as the Chargers went on to win 25-11.

The second started off similarly to the first, but again, Dawson Forney got a solo block to spark a quick four unanswered for the Chargers to gain a 9-4 lead over the Eagles. Soon after, Lancaster Bible pulled together a massive 7-0 run with three aces from Jake Rotelle during that span, and the team gained a comfortable 17-6 lead. The Eagles tried their best to crawl back as both teams traded points late in the match, but ultimately, the Chargers stayed on top to win the second set 25-12.

The Chargers started off the third set on a 9-3 run with two service aces and a kill from Elijah Herb. After the strong start, both teams battled back and forth trading points and the Chargers led just 16-10, then Lancaster Bible went on another quick 4-0 run. The Eagles again tried to fight back, but it was too little, too late as the Chargers won the third and final set 25-14 to complete the sweep.

By the Numbers: Elijah Herb led the Chargers with 12 kills and two service aces… Jake Rotelle finished with a little bit of everything with five kills, three service aces, and six receptions… Christian Herr added 29 assists… Kodi Peters led the Eagles with eight kills.
