The Lancaster Bible College baseball team competed in two of a three-game series on Friday afternoon against United East Conference opponent, Penn St. Abington. The Chargers lost 9-6 in game one and 19-8 in game two. The Chargers fall to 3-16 overall and 1-7 in conference, while the Lions improve to 11-9 overall and 6-2 in conference.

Game One, 9-6 Loss

How It Happened: The first inning saw a lot of action, with the Lions scoring four runs to lead the game off, and the Chargers saw two runs in the bottom of the first off two walks. The Lions hit three more home runs in the 2
nd and 4
th inning to make it a 9-2 lead, but the Chargers had some more fight in them. Senior
Blake Greenly's single in the bottom of the 4
th inning sent home freshman
Evan Sareyka to make it 9-3, then in the next at bat junior
Brian Coburn had a sacrifice fly to center field, sending freshman
Dylan Witkowski home. In the bottom of the 7
th and down 9-4, the Chargers knew they need to get the bats going.
Harrison Madagan sent a huge double that brought home both Coburn and Greenly to make it a 9-6 ballgame, but the Chargers were unable to capitalize.

By the Numbers: The Chargers had five hits for six runs and six RBIs… the Lions had nine hits for nine runs and nine RBIs… the Chargers dished out 10 strikeouts while the Lions had 12 strikeouts… Coburn went 2-3 with two runs and one RBI… Morales went 2-5 with 5 RBIs for the Lions.
Game Two, 19-8 Loss

How It Happened: The Chargers grabbed the lead early as Greenly sent a two-run shot in the bottom of the 1
st inning and Witkowski hit a three-run shot in the bottom of the 2
nd to make it a 5-0 ballgame. The Lions returned the favor, scoring seven through six innings and claiming a 7-5 lead. Reclaiming the lead was Witkowski and the Chargers, who hit his second three-run homer of the day to make it an 8-7 Charger lead. Facing a deficit in the 8
th inning, the Lions went on and scored 11 more runs through the final two innings to end the game in a scoring outburst.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had six hits for eight runs and eight RBIs… the Lions had 20 its for 19 runs and 16 total RBIs… the Chargers had three home runs while the Lions had six home runs… Witkowski and Greenly both went 2-4 on the day… Witkowski nabbed six RBIs… Fogel went 6-6 for the Lions including four runs and three RBIs.
