The Lancaster Bible College men's and women's tennis teams cruised to a victory over the Clarks Summit Defenders to earn themselves a three-game win streak. The men won 9-0 while the women won 6-3. The men improve to 12-3 overall and sit at 2-1 in conference while the women's team improves to 6-10 and remain 2-1 in conference.
Men Sweep Defenders 9-0 on Senior Night
The Chargers honored the program's four seniors on Friday evening:
Andrew Moore,
Malachi Bomgardner,
Devon Clemmer, and
AJ Kwiatkowski. Following the ceremony, the Chargers came out firing winning all three doubles action each by six or more points.
Devon Clemmer and
Josh Jarvis got it started with a big 8-0 win.
Transitioning into singles matches, Clemmer won 6-0, 6-0 while Jarvis got a 6-3, 6-0 win.
Micah Weaver picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win then Bomgardner got a 6-0, 6-2 win. Rounding out for the Chargers was Kwiatkowski and Moore who won 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively.
Women Earn Third Victory in a Row, 6-3
The Chargers started out down early after falling in the first match in a close 8-6 loss and withdrawing from the final doubles match, but the duo of
Jania Weist and
Alycia Eglauer picked up an 8-0 win.
Sensing a bit of urgency, the Chargers crushed five straight singles wins as Sarah Hartmann,
Sarah Steckbeck, Weist, Eglauer, and Burkholder earned two set wins. The Chargers lost the No. 6 slot after withdrawing.
