The Lancaster Bible College baseball team hosted non-conference opponent Stevenson on Tuesday afternoon after a big conference win over Penn St. Berks on Monday at home. Despite reaching within one run, the Chargers could not overcome the Mustangs as they lost 10-8. The Chargers fall to 11-20 overall and are 8-7 in the United East, while the Mustangs improve to 17-13 overall and are 10-8 in the MACÂ Commonwealth.

How It Happened: It was the Mustangs who found the scoreboard first, finding an early run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 1
st inning. After holding the Chargers' top of the order scoreless, the Mustangs knocked one more run in the 2
nd inning to make it a 2-0 lead. Senior
James Toney got the ball rolling for the Chargers, sending a solo home run over the right field fence to bring it within one run.

The Mustangs used a big 3
rd and 4
th inning to make it a 5-1 lead until a
Brian Coburn run off a balk and a
Harrison Hobdy home run added two more runs for the Chargers. The Mustangs scored another in the 7
th inning, but the Chargers responded with yet another home run as
Blake Greenly hit a two-run shot over right center to make it a 6-5 ball game.

The Mustangs got two more in the 8
th inning, but Greenly again delivered for LBC, sending a double down the left field line to score
Kaden Hunt, then Coburn hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score
Dylan Witkowski, bringing the lead to yet again one run. With one more inning left to play, the Chargers eyed a final rally and their first lead of the game, but a few defensive miscues allowed the Mustangs to score two more in the top of the 9
th, making it a three-run game. Freshman
Evan Sareyka looked to get a final rally going with a solo home run of his own, but the Chargers fell short, losing 10-8.

By the Numbers: The Chargers had 13 hits for eight runs and seven RBIs… the Mustangs had 14 hits for 10 runs and six RBIs… the Chargers hit four home runs, but had five errors on the day…
Evan Sareyka went 3-5 with one RBI… Toney, Witkowski, Greenly, Coburn, and Hobdy all had two hits each… Tommy Holcomb had three hits for the Mustangs.

Up Next: The Chargers head out to Williamsport, Pa. on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 to take on Penn College in a United East series. The double-header will be played on Friday while the single game will be played on Saturday.
