Chargers Complete the Sweep Over the Bison

The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team completed the three-game sweep over the Gallaudet Bison on Saturday after winning their first game on Friday. The Chargers beat the Bison 14-0 in game one of the doubleheader on Saturday and 4-0 in game two. The Chargers now sit at 8-17 overall and 5-7 in conference, while the Bison fall to 7-21 overall and 1-9 in conference.
 
Game One, 14-0 Win
 
How It Happened: The Chargers got things rolling early after scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. Brian Coburn hit a single through shortstop, scoring Dylan Witkowski, then a dropped ball in left field hit by Evan Sareyka scored Hobdy, Madagan, and Toney to give the Chargers a 4-0 lead.
 
Heading into the second inning, the Chargers tacked on four more runs as both Toney and Madagan hit doubles to the left side of the field, then a Hobdy single brought in Madagan to close out the inning. Holding the Bison scoreless and continuing the scoring trend, the Chargers scored three more in the third inning as Witkowski, Coburn, and Toney all got RBI-singles to make it 11-0 Chargers.
 
The final three runs happened in the fifth and seventh innings as Hobdy singled to bring home Coburn, then Braden Hofstetter sent a single through the middle to bring home Coburn, and Zane Cook was hit by a pitch, scoring Toney. The Chargers won 14-0.
 
By the Numbers: The Chargers tallied 17 hits for 14 runs and 11 RBIs… the Bison had one hit and four walks… Hobdy went 4-4 on the game with two RBIs… Brian Coburn had three hits with three runs and two RBIs… Toney added two hits for three runs and three RBIs… Diaz had the lone hit for the Bison.

Game Two, 4-0 Win
 
How It Happened: The Chargers were able to pull out their third win of the weekend, despite tallying 15 hits and just four runs. Hobdy, hot off game one, singled to third base, scoring James Toney in the third inning. Blake Greenly sent another single to the left side, bring Lucas McCormick home. Hobdy again singled to score Greenly in the seventh inning, and Brian Coburn hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Witkowski and the Chargers' final run in the eighth inning.
 
By the Numbers: The Chargers had 15 hits for four runs and four RBIs… the Bison had three hits and one walk… Greenly went 3-4 on the game with one run and one RBI… Harrison Hobdy went 4-5 with two more RBIs… Naylor, McCormick, and Hunt had two hits each… three Bison had a hit each.
 
Up Next: The Chargers return home to play Penn St. Altoona in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 11th at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
