Phoebe Clemens added another accolade to her impressive 2023 season recently, as she was named a finalist for the Deb Thompson Award that is given by the NCCAA to an impactful softball player. Though she did not win the award, Clemens was one of only five finalists throughout all of NCCAAÂ softball.
Clemens, who was named to the United East All-Conference First Team earlier this month, hit .458Â this season and led the team with 54 hits. She also scored a team-high 37 runs and drove in 39 more. In addition to her success on the field, Clemens also served as one of the team's leaders, and has been a vital student-athlete on campus and in the classroom.
In addition to Clemens, the other finalists included Dani Chaney (Maranatha Baptist), Hannah Robbins (Mid-American Christian), Jordyn Van Metre (Ottawa Univ. Arizona), and Lauren Baker (Columbia International). Baker was chosen as the recipient of the 2023 Deb Thompson award.
This is the first time a softball student-athlete from Lancaster Bible College has been chosen as a finalist for the award.
