Game Recap: Field Hockey | | Hunter Gerber

Chargers Clipped by Knights, 2-0

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team fought hard on Friday evening, but it wasn't enough as the Neumann Knights escaped with a 2-0 victory at the Donald H. Funk Field. The Chargers drop to 2-8 overall while the Knights improve to 2-7 on the year.

How It Happened: Coming off a 1-1 weekend, the Chargers looked to carry the momentum from Saturday into the match. The Knights were able to place several shots on goal before one found the back of the goal with under two minutes left in the first period. Feeling the pressure, the Chargers were able to secure two penalty corners but didn't convert.

Headed into the second period, the Chargers withheld the Knights offensive attacks and even placed a shot of their own. The Chargers headed to halftime down 1-0.

The second half started just the same with the Knights off to a hot start but the Chargers withstanding everything thrown at them. The Chargers turned the pressure the other way securing two shots and two penalty corners at the end of the third period, but neither were able to be converted.

The fourth period however was dominated by the Knights. The Knights were able to tack on just one more goal with under four minutes left to play ending in a 2-0 loss for the Chargers.

By the Numbers: The Chargers were outshot 11-3 by the Knights… Hoover registered four saves… the Knights tallied nine penalty corners to the Chargers five… Millward and Conti had the goals for the Knights… Zoffer and Hughes had the assists.

Information to Know: The last matchup between the Chargers and Knights was in favor of the visitors as Neumann won 2-1… the Chargers are now 0-5 all-time against the Knights… the Chargers have just four more non-conference opponents before opening United East Conference play.

Up Next: The Chargers make a quick turnaround as they host another non-conference opponent in Eastern on Tuesday, October 3 at 4:30 p.m.
